Belarus State University (BSU) became one of the 5 best world universities in 2012 in the category Algorithm according to the organizer of programming contest TopCoder (USA).

As it’s reported on the official website of the university, BSU is number 5 on this rating list, above Lomonosov Moscow State University, Universities of Warsaw, Shanghai and Beijing, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Stanford University and others.

Thanks to joint efforts of participants from different Belarusian universities our country holds 6th position on the overall rating list. 5 years ago Belarus was number 12 and BSU – number 17.

The Rating List TopCoder was created in 2001 and features three categories: individual, university and country ratings. The rating is based on the results of the programming contests in 11 categories, including Algorithm, Component Design, Component Development, Marathon and Studio.
