Virtual dermatologist Skinive in Belarusian hospitals

5 April 2021

Hi-Tech Park resident Wise AI LLC launched the Skinive pilot project − the   AI- based virtual service for skin disease diagnosis. Mobile application Skinive.MD is a medtech instrument that allows to screen skin by means of a smartphone photo. Using computer vision and machine learning, the virtual dermatologist identifies abnormal neoplasms. The neural network analyzes the image and looks for similarities with thousands of clinical cases of skin pathologies.

The new application will be tested in the Belarusian hospitals for six months. Vitebsk Regional Sports Medicine Dispensary and Mogilev Regional Oncology Center have already joined the project. More than 10 healthcare institutions of Minsk, Vitebsk, Grodno, Brest regions, including Borisov, Miory, Polotsk, Orsha, Baranovichy and Volkovysk central regional hospitals, expressed their intention to test the application.

According to the chief physician of Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Dermatovenereology and Cosmetology Viktor Spiridonov, the Center's specialists will actively use Skinive.MD for the early diagnosis of  melanoma, an aggressive cancer type.

“About 100 cases of melanoma are registered in the Vitebsk region annually. The mobile application based on cloud technologies helps to identify the nature of skin neoplasms more accurately and prescribe appropriate treatment,” said Viktor Spiridonov.

With the help of the Skinive.MD AI-smart camera doctors will be able to take high-quality photos of skin disorders and get a back-up opinion from artificial intelligence in less than 30 seconds. The Skinive algorithm, trained on the basis of 130 thousand confirmed clinical cases, will provide several options of provisional diagnosis, analyze the patient’s health threat level, offer recommendations on further actions.

The Skinive project participated in the MTS Startup Hub Acceleration and will be integrated into a net of private Russian clinics.
