On 14 January President Alexander Lukashenko met with Valery
Tsepkalo, Director of the Administration of High Technologies
Park, to receive his report on the park's performance in 2009.
The park's main areas of activity are development and implementation
of information and communication technologies and software
in Belarus, as well as their export. Today this is one of
the fastest growing segments of the Belarusian economy, a
leader of the country's services sector.
The output of software products in 2009 totaled Br390 billion,
up 50 per cent from the preceding year. As of the beginning
of 2010, the park included 80 resident companies.
In 2009 the park carried out a project that featured the
biggest amount of direct foreign investments in Belarusian
history: the first HTP Production and Administrative Complex
was constructed, becoming the biggest structure of this type
in the country.
Mr. Tsepkalo also briefed the President on the park's international
projects, which were gaining momentum in 2009. Specifically,
there was a meeting with the leader of Malaysia; such countries
as the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan showed their interest
to the park's activity too.
