On April 1, 2009 the delegation from the International Telecommunication Union headed by Mr. Sami Al-Bashir Al-Murshid, Director of ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, visited Belarus Hi-Tech Park.

During the negotiations Mr. Valery Tsepkalo, Director of the Administration of Belarus Hi-Tech Park made a presentation of the Park. The delegation members got acquainted with the history of the IT sector development in the Republic of Belarus, learned about the progress in the field of IT education and the results of activities and prospects of the Park’s development.

During the meeting Mr. Sami Al-Bashir, Director of Telecommunication Development Bureau stated that Belarus Hi-Tech Park is a unique project which greatly contributes to the development of human capacity and transition of Belarus to the knowledge-based economy.  In this context Mr. Sami Al-Bashir proposed to establish an ITU Training Academy on the basis of Belarus Hi-Tech Park.  

The aspiration for developing a closer cooperation with Belarus Hi-Tech Park resulted in the suggestion on signing a MOU between the Park and International Telecommunication Union and invitation for the Park to become a member of ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau.
