Great modernizer Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad who turned backward Malaysia into one of the leaders of world development has highly appraised the Hi-Tech Park prospects and kindly agreed to become the Park’s Honorable International Advisor.
The authority of Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad is immense not only in Asia but worldwide. Due to his leadership, expertise, outstanding knowledge and insight he was invited to lead such influential organizations as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). His book “The Way Forward” where he reveals instruments to be used for settlement of interethnic and social conflicts and presents his formula for archiving economic success has been translated into major languages and has become a guide for action for many politicians and statesmen all over the world.

Dr. Mahathir
bin Mohamad served as Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1981-2003.
During the
time when he headed the country Malaysia turned from a poorly developed
agrarian nation into a modern state with highly-developed economy becoming
one of the major high-tech hubs in Asia.
Within this
period the Malaysian economy demonstrated phenomenal growth and now
is one of the largest and dynamic in the world. The economic growth
of the country during the time when Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad held his
office averaged over ten percent annually and living standards rose
twentyfold.




Dr. Mahathir
bin Mohamad initiated creation of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC)
which is at present one of the largest ICT parks in Asia. The establishment
of the MSC turned Malaysia into a global junction of data and communications
flow, a center of accommodation of state-of-the-art technologies, multimedia
innovations and telecommunications services.

Today the Multimedia
Super Corridor covers an area of a few hundred square kilometers
and stretches from the world-famous Petronas Twin Towers in the Malaysian
capital city to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

At present
with Dr. Mahathir’s active participation a strategy of transformation
of Malaysia into an ultra modern, high-technology based state is continued
to be dynamically implemented.
Some time
ago a number of other distinguished public figures also consented to
participation in the work of the Board: Secretary General of the International
Telecommunication Union Dr. Hamadoun Toure, Swedish MP Urban Ahlin,
famous Hollywood producer Brad Krevoy, Head of the Italian Institute
of Technology in Genoa (IIT), Chevalier des Palmes Academiques of France
Professor Jean-Guy Fontaine.
It is expected
that a number of other well-known politicians, public figures and successful
businessmen who have greatly contributed to the development of knowledge
economy in their home countries and all over the world will become members
of the Board.
