Independent
Russian research information security portal www.anti-malware.ru
tested self-protection of 15 most popular antivirus programs.
Self-protection tests were held using specially designed
utility software imitating attacks or generating attacks by
hand. The antivirus working capacity (of its separate modules,
active processes, services and drivers) was checked after
each attack.
Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 topped all in self-protection
and was awarded Gold Self-Protection Award. This antivirus
repelled 97% of all attacks and scored 32 points of 33, underscoring
only 1% to win Platinum Self-Protection Award.
The three products - VBA32 Antivirus 3.11, Symantec Internet
Security 2007 and F-Secure Internet Security 2007 showed high
results (from 61 to 71%) and were awarded Silver Self-Protection
Award.
The results of the tests are available at the site of the
portal Anti-Malware.
Summarizing the results of the tests we can state that only
4 antivirus products (Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0, VBA32
Antivirus 3.11, Symantec Internet Security 2007 and F-Secure
Internet Security 2007) have the self-protection level which
is required today.
